CaloriSpy

The app

I am building CaloriSpy with Phillip. It reads grocery receipts to help you log food, then asks you to confirm what you actually ate. My household uses it daily, and we are still working on it.

Building it

The app uses React Native and Expo with a Bun API. Much of the work is matching abbreviated receipt lines to the right products and nutrition data. When a match is ambiguous, we leave it unresolved.

Receipt processing happens on our servers and uses AI providers. Retailer connection tokens are encrypted on the server.
